Congratulations to Department of Linguistics Assistant Professor, Dr. Jon Forrest for receiving an Innovation in Multicultural Curriculum Award from Franklin College of Arts & Sciences to support the development of his new course, Language, Race, and Ethnicity in the US.

This new course will be offered as LING 4015/6015 during Spring 2020 and examines how demographic shifts leave traces in language structure, and how linguistic features connect to ethnic identity. Emphasis will be placed on the social construction of race and ethnicity through language, with a focus on common varieties spoken in Georgia.
