This week, Linguistics Ph.D. students Keiko Bridwell and Amelia Abbott received Graduate Research Awards from the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts Advisory Board. The scholarships were awarded to fund Bridwell and Abbott's respective research efforts. 

This past summer, Linguistics faculty and students represented UGA at several conferences.

UGA Linguistics faculty members Dr. Margaret Renwick and Dr. Jon Forrest were featured in this week's Columns article, discussing the rapid decline of the Georgia accent among younger generations. 

The UGA Linguistics department congratulates Zahin Hoque on his receipt of a research award from UGA CURO (Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities). Only 500 of UGA’s 30,000 undergraduate students are awarded the $1,000 scholarship.

This summer, Ph.D. student Meg Fletcher participated in a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to study Zulu in South Africa for 8 weeks.
