Dr. Jon Forrest and Dr. Peggy Renwick's research on changing pronunciations among different generations of speakers in Georgia has been featured in Georgia Magazine and in this YouTube video.

The East Coast Indo-European Conference (ECIEC) is an annual meeting of specialists in Indo-European linguistics and philology, mostly from or trained in the United States. 

All sessions will be held in The Pinnacle Room 480 Baldwin Hall, 355 S. Jackson St.

This past week, Ph.D. candidate and teaching assistant Jean Costa-Silva received a Graduate Research Award from the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts Advisory Board. The $900 award will go towards costs associated with his research project, “Acquisition of Motion Descriptions by Portuguese and English Foreign Language Learners.”

Dr. Keith Langston was honored this week for his "influential vision and leadership" and "significant impact on UGA" with the title of 2023-2024 University Professor alongside Dr. Paula Lemons, Professor and Associate Dean of Franklin College. 

Dr. Pilar Chamorro will be presenting a talk as part of the 27th Annual Conference on the Americas and the UNESCO Decade of Indigenous Languages 2022-2032.

The Linguistics Society at UGA will be hosting the Linguistics Conference at University of Georgia (LCUGA 2024) on February 17-18th (in-person) in Athens, GA.

The theme of this year's conference is "Modeling Language." We are excited to announce this year's plenary speakers: Luis Ulloa (PhD Candidate, SUNY: University at Buffalo) and Dr. Sashank Varma (Professor, Georgia Tech).
