PhD Student
Graduate Teaching Assistant

Emre (he/him) is a first-year PhD student at the UGA Department of Linguistics. He is primarily interested in syntax and how it evolves through language contact. Emre is also eager to explore more about how computers, specifically Large Language Models (LLMs) perceive and generate different varieties of syntax to imitate authentic human language use. In addition to being a graduate student, Emre works as a First-Year Writing instructor at the UGA Department of English. Combining his interest in LLMs and his experience in teaching First-Year Writing courses, Emre completed his master's thesis titled "The Promise and Peril of AI Technology for Writing Instruction: An Exploratory Study on Stakeholder Attitudes Toward Using AI Tools in a University First-Year Writing Program" in Spring of 2024.
